Regarding partial nudity and other issues

Okay, time to address the elephant in the room: partial nudity and sexualization.

I just wanted to represent how over the top the 80's horror films were because, as you can probably tell, this is supposed to be a homage to 80's B-horror films (and they certaintly had a good amount of unnecessary showers, lack of clothing, etc). But I also wanted to show that, despite being humilliated and how vulnerable she might have looked, Alesa was a very strong person determined to overcome all these obstacles and escape (that's why she gets a shotgun and kills her tormentors).

It seems some people feel offended by these issues. If that's the case, or if Alesa's sprites ruined your experience/made you feel uncomfortable, I apologize for that. Perhaps I should have added a SFW mode, a censorship option, a different costume option or something like that. I'll definitely keep that in mind for my future games. However, I also understand that everyone is entitled to their oppinion and their preferences and that it's impossible to please everyone. So I guess in the end it boils down to: if this is not (or you believe it might not be) your cup of tea, you shouldn't play it. And always pay attention to the content warnings. On the other hand, if this is the type of content you expected and you enjoyed it...that' great and I'm happy for that! Also, this game wasn't supposed to be taken seriously. I had a lot of laughs while I made it (it's too damn cheesy and some events don't make sense at all. And Alesa's legs look like chicken legs)

I was more confused than offended by the partial nudity and sexualization, but now that I know it's a reference to 80s movies it makes a lot more sense! I would also not trade it away for a game that doesn't include the ending with Alessa and Greta, that ending was pretty funny and it just wouldn't have been the same if it was more SFW.

Hahahaha
Actually, before releasing the game, I considered eliminating that particular scene because I thought that maybe it would be too much. But in the end I decided to leave it, specially since shower scenes like that one were very common in the 80's horror b-films (this shower scene in particular is based on a scene of a movie about an alien monster in an abandoned lab, I think it was from 1987)

Oh, interesting! I was thinking anything to do with the showers was a reference to the Psycho film, and since it's so iconic I just assumed that was why there were so many of them.

Content warnings are usually more than enough for this kind of thing. I don't get mad at people who don't want to deal with heavy topics in their media - some folks are survivors of such real life horrors, and they may not be in a good headspace to deal with them in a game/movie/book/whatever. Good on you for being willing to explain your decisions in a reasonable way, and for including those warnings.

About the only reason I'd recommend a SFW mode in future projects like this one would be for the streamers and Let's Play types who might fall afoul of platforms randomly deciding this isn't "advertiser friendly" or somesuch silliness. But that's a personal suggestion, you do what you feel you should do.

Thank you for your comments!
Yeah, I'll probably consider a SFW mode for that reason, or just a censor filter

Hello, I happened to read the comments on the game page and also read this post, just let me say that you managed the "issue" like a pro and I hope you don't mind a lengthy reply.

I personally didn't find a problem with the game themes and depictions at all, I have seen distasteful depictions of sensible topics on media before and this is not even close, actually I found funny how risque the underwear of a social worker on duty was haha. And of course she is a great character for surviving all that and still cracking jokes at the end.

And yeah, I know everyone has different tastes but I hope you keep doing you, regardless of what people say, you don't owe anyone a SFW mode, an apology or anything, this are your games; You post a description and screenshots, and people have eyes.

I'll try not to get too heated over this issues but people getting mad/offended/hurt at pixeled booty on a free indie game, and horror depictions that include nudity in a horror game just rubs me the wrong way.

I have seen other developers discouraged, or should I say, bullied out of doing what they like by this over-sensitive type of comments, you were really respectful with your reply and you seem like a really nice fellow and I just wanted to encourage you to be you, my bad if I am out of place with this comment.

Thank you so much for your support Hikiyami! I definitely needed to read a comment like yours!
Actually, what surprises more is that people feel offended because of a few pixels simulating a censored shower but I haven't read anything about the tongue amputation scene. Although that also happens in every other media (literature, cinema, tv series): extreme violence? I sleep. Partial nudity? Get the pitchforks!!!
I genuinely feel sorry if I offended some players, as that was never my intention, and I feel sorry their experience migh have been ruined because of the partial nudity or jiggle physics. But that doesn't mean I will modify this game nor that I will stop making horror games. Actually, I'm working on a new game right now, although this time I want to take a more psychological horror approach and the protagonist will be male
