Hey man. How do you get bigger sprites? I recently got RPGMaker and was influenced a lot by you, but I noticed the sprites that come with it are chibi looking and yours are a lot bigger. A quick point in the right direction would be helpful. Thanks, man. love your work.
What version of Rpg Maker are you using? I use MZ and what I do for bigger sprites is either make an already big sprite or make a smaller one and increase it's size by % with Aseprite. Then, I add "!$" to the character sheet so MZ reconizes it as a single character. But you can also create a regular character sheet (with 6 characters) using bigger sprites and it will still allow you to use them.
If you're using Rpg Maker 2000 or 2003, then you can only use smaller sprites.
I don't use zoom plugins, I just make everything bigger by doubling it's size in (200%) in Aseprite. Sometimes, that includes tilesets (to scale them with the bigger sprites). My sight is a bit poor, so that's why I prefer games with bigger sprites. My last game used smaller sprites and playtesting it was painful to my eyes, so I'll always try to use bigger sprites (it also allows players to appreciate sprites in more detail, for example, shading, dithering, animations, etc)
Right on. Well, thanks for that. I'm in the process of learning how to do it so I can make a horror game inspired by some of your work (but original, of course) I grew up on all those 80s slasher and big titty damsels in distress movies. I love that stuff.
I'm new to this platform - and I know you didn't know it, but I want you to know that I'm extremely surprised by your good production of brilliantly funny and interesting games! I spent a lot of time playing them but I liked this one the most - so here are my two works for you (mia's picture) I hope you like it. And I have a question - is this the end of pinocchiogoria?
Ohhhh they're beautiful, I love them! Thank you so much for your art and for your kind words!! : D
The story of Pinocchiogoria is over at the moment, but Mia will keep appearing in some of my games, since she's part of the Alesa universe and she's one of my favorite characters!
So, I just recorded my first video of this game and, oh my God, does it deliver. It give me vibes from games like Mad Father and Misao. The puzzles in it are great and The idea of making a fairy tale like Pinocchio a monster is amazing. Keep it up!
Thank you so much Richie! Mad Father and Misao are among my favorite games and they have been a great influence for my games! This is actually one of my earlier games. It had 2 images that had been modified with AI, so I wanted to update the game and remove the AI art. Fortunately I found an amazing artist that made real art for the game. Some mechanics are a bit rough, but I had a lot of fun making it. I hope you enjoy the rest of the game! Thanks again for playing! I've watched some of your other gameplays of my games, they were really fun to watch!
I love the game it very interesting, Pinocchio is very creepy why he so obsessive on his big twin step sister is it because of jewels always lead to curses?
I might come back to this game one day, but not at the moment. Also, all the characters in Pinocchiogoria are in A House for Alesa 3 (Mia, Pinocchio and Gepetto)
Well I can't finish this game, I literally can't figure out what I have to do at cave or temple or whatever it is. In wich order do I put colors in I have no idea, if anyone has answer please tel me.
Thank you, but how did you figure that out? I've lookd everywhere and not a single hint helped me about it. Thank you again for answer, that puzzle is realy hard.
Clock Tower, Ao Oni and Mad Father meet each other.
Not only is it a genuinely good game, but it also has all the RPG maker horror games' vibes. A specific frustrating chase scene where you need to do a specific thing you can only guess is something all good examples have.
Also, lamp and oil mechanics were kinda useless, there were 0 unlit rooms💀💀
Hi! I finished the game two days ago and today I uploaded a video about the deaths on my YouTube channel. I really liked the game and the story! Also, Pinocchios obsession towards his sister is messed up, which made it more creepy when he was chasing me! Nice work! And... nice physics lol.
Thank you so much! : D After watching your video, I regret not including more death animations haha Regarding the physics: I'm a certified jiggle physics engineer, and I'm very proud of my work!
More death animations would've been awesome, but don't worry too much about it, the game is very good as it is! I really enjoyed playing it without skipping the puzzles. Looking forward for more if there's a sequel, which I'm pretty sure you mentioned something about it in here! Thank you for your work once again!
Thank you! : D Yeah, I'm still undecided on the sequel, but I think some of these characters deserve a comeback, and vampire Mia could be a fun concept if done right
I liked the multiple endings. Graphics were good. Story was ok. A lot of tropes coming full circle in them, which isn't a bad thing. I liked the puzzles but had to skip the painting one - I just couldn't figure it out. I would have liked to know which pieces were wrong. Maybe we submit via a button and it locks correct pieces into place. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkyNTXPUk6w
Hello! Thank you so much for playing and for your feedback! This game definitely needed more work, specially in terms of characters, story and some of the puzzles, since I spent most of the time on level design and Pinocchio's AI (which caused me a lot of headeaches). I actually updated the game and modified that picture puzzle so that now it's not so tedious . I'll definitely try to make a proper picture puzzle for my next project
I can see how his AI would cause a ton of headaches and take a lot of work - getting the random spawns to feel random and not too much must have taken a lot of work! I look forward to your next game!
Man, I played the whole game in the middle of the night with my girlfriend, we did all the endings, it was freaking cool. You should make a sequel. Awesome work!
Amazing game "تحفة فنية" Mia is a precious little gem , but she can be dumb sometimes I have a confession to make I tried writing "Mr bob" at the typewriter section , why I am obsessed with bob XD
What's the best ending lol 😂 I watched on some videos on YouTube I love big booba main character I'm not see big booba main characters on the games it's good 👍😊
The canon ending is the cursed ending. And it's not just her descendants: Mia has become a vampire too. I might make a sequel to this (and Pinocchio and Gepetto MUST come back)
This was so unbelievably frustrating but like, in a good way lol. Reminded me a lot of The Witch's House and Ao Oni. Made the horrible horrible mistake of playing in hard mode haha. I managed to complete it, but man I had to sit through that death animation soooo many times. The puzzles were fun and engaging (although I had to look up a walk-through for that painting puzzle because I would have never gotten it otherwise lol) I'd say my only criticism is that the death cutscenes are a bit too long and get annoying really quick, I wanted to punch my screen during that corridor chase scene lol. But otherwise, I had such a good time playing, I absolutely love horror RPGs and this game was no exception <3
Thank you! : D I love those games you mentioned and they were big inspirations for this one! I pretty much wanted to make something with early rpg maker horror vibes (with a bit of CT mixed there too) while at the same time evoking the feel of 80's giallo movies Kudos for completing the game on hard hahaha. The spawn rate for easy and normal is 1/10 and 1/7, while in hard mode it's 1/3 (I actually shouldn't have included hard mode at all)
A nice interpretation of a classic story filled with what makes your games great, gotta say this one feels more gamejamy than the other ones and a bit more time would have done it good, but I still had a lot of fun.
The 3 main characters of the game are very well developed, I can't express how much I hate Geppetto, he is an amazing character with motivations and emotions but is such a terrible Father god, The MC rivals the thickness of Alesa but her sprite in game is amazing, with the clothe animated and that sweet Idle animation 10/10. Pinocchio reminds me of the classic Clock Tower enemy ScissorMan, very cool concept. And that transformation, gonna live in my mind rent free for a while.
The game mostly features nice and creative puzzles but I gotta say the jigsaw picture puzzle was a pain, first time I had to skip one, and not because it was hard to solve, it was just plain tedious to do it, thankfully there is the option to skip. The other thing that bugged me a bit was the enemy AI felt more tedious than spooky after a while, maybe random spawning is not the way to go with such little time to work on the game, still, it was not terrible, just not engaging.
I see the Dossowverse lore expanding and I am all for it, there is quite a lot of references in this game as well as what I think are hints to future games, I found this really creative and a cool addition; As usual I love ALL the endings.
Hey Hikiyami! Thank you so much for playing and for your reviews! Your feedback is always really helpful! The jigsaw puzzle was a complete mistake, there were many ways it could have been done better and I went for the worst one. No wonder I had to add an "skip puzzle" option! Regarding the AI of Pinocchio, it was even messier hahaha. The thing is, in hard mode he has a 1/3 chance of appearing, while on easy and normal the odds are 1/10 and 1/7, which make the experience waaay less frustrating (actually, congratulations on beating the game on hard mode, I think you're the first person to do it) I made this while taking a break from A House for Alesa 3 and other projects, so it really shows that the end was a bit rushed, although I regret not adding happier endings (I think becoming a vampire is a good thing though!) Anyway, thank you so much again as always! : D Also, funny that you mention the "Dossowverse" hahahah, because I want to make some of my older characters come back (Alex from the Sakabashira game, Marion from 'Anderghast Mine, the killer frog from The Grotesque and Pixelesque, etc)
Hello, I come once again. I saw your game here and I can say it sure was interesting.
She went into more detail and gave some feedback and some ideas of how she would have done it.
Personally, I am wondering if this game was in works for a while and you managed to finish it now or was it something you pulled up quickly as a fun project between the Alesa series? I see that while everything was on par with what got used to expect, the writing felt a bit lacking. That's just my opinion.
Hello! This game was made for a jam and I made it in just a few days while taking a momentary break from A House for Alesa 3's development. I reckon the writing needed some more work. My main focus was the atmosphere, the graphics and making Pinocchio scary. Perhaps some day I'll make a sequel and try to come up with a more polished story
yoo i watch jay from the kubz scouts play this and it was SICK!, mind if you send the image folder BUT in png format, cause when i downloaded the game, and checked the images folder, they all seemed to be in ".png_" formats, searching that up gives me no results, idk if its for the game to recognize it or if its for compression, if it is, could you please put all the ingame images in one zip (mias in the pause screen looks cute, thats why i want it!!)
That format is because they are encrypted. I'm afraid I can't share the unencrypted image folder because that would be against the TOS and respective licences of the base assets
got to the painting puzzle and omg its impossible, why does it have so many options and so smalllll, still a pretty good game, next time i'll take the skip lol
I love how you have found such a specific aesthetics for your games, they're all so surreal with fun designs and colors! This game rules as usual and can you tell Gepetto that I want his juicy [MESSAGE CENSORED FOR PUBLIC DECENCY] and also Mia's equally juicy [MESSAGE CENSORED FOR PUBLIC DECENCY]?

Hey man. How do you get bigger sprites? I recently got RPGMaker and was influenced a lot by you, but I noticed the sprites that come with it are chibi looking and yours are a lot bigger. A quick point in the right direction would be helpful. Thanks, man. love your work.
Hello!
What version of Rpg Maker are you using? I use MZ and what I do for bigger sprites is either make an already big sprite or make a smaller one and increase it's size by % with Aseprite. Then, I add "!$" to the character sheet so MZ reconizes it as a single character. I'm using MZ. Is that how your maps look more zoomed in as well? It's amazing work, man.
I don't use zoom plugins, I just make everything bigger by doubling it's size in (200%) in Aseprite. Sometimes, that includes tilesets (to scale them with the bigger sprites). It's supposed to be a mirror room. There's a hidden switch in one of the walls
^^
Hello A.V.Dossow!
Ohhhh they're beautiful, I love them! Thank you so much for your art and for your kind words!! : D

Thanks again for playing! I've watched some of your other gameplays of my games, they were really fun to watch!
I'm glad you like them. Though, I also would like to report a bug.
(SPOILERS BTW)
In the chase sequence, skipping it causes the game to bug out, and cause Mia to walk backwards indefinitely. Might wanna fix that.
Thanks for letting me know! That was a serious bug!
Excuse me, but why aren't there anymore the broken clocks in the garden
They confused some players regarding the pots puzzle, so I deleted some of them but there's still one in the underground
i couldnt finish the game because Geppeto's BIG ASS had me HOOOKED!! HE DOES NOT NEED ALL THAT CAKE ISTG
Never been distracted by Alesa's ass but he's.. he's diff
Alesa definitely wins, but Gepetto's behind isn't far behind!
Great games! the comments were not lying about the cake tho...
how many endings are there?
Edit: ignore the ending question i found out
The game looked promising, but once i saw ai generated art my impressions were completely ruined. I don't want to support this kind of stuff.
Whats wrong with ai art?
ai art is incredibly lazy, and just steals from actual artists
Don't worry, A. V. recently replaced all instances of AI art!
dang that's disappointing. which parts were ai generated?
I'm happy to announce that all instances of AI have been removed and a real artist made new art for the game.
I'm hapy to annouce that the 2 instances of AI art have been removed and replaced with real art by a real artist
I love the game it very interesting, Pinocchio is very creepy why he so obsessive on his big twin step sister is it because of jewels always lead to curses?
Amazing game! The artwork, story and gameplay were all fantastic. Can't wait to see another rpg maker game from this developer.
Thank you so much, I'm glad you liked the game! Great playthrough! : D
Thank you for making it. RPG Maker Horror Love <3
woooooooooooow I really enjoyed this game, I really want a second chapter please
Thank you so much!
I might come back to this game one day, but not at the moment. Also, all the characters in Pinocchiogoria are in A House for Alesa 3 (Mia, Pinocchio and Gepetto)
oh I didn't know that, thx for telling me, I have to finish the first game A house for Alesa and I'll start the second game finally
Ve a ver mi nuevo Gameplay en español! Se que te va a gustar
Gran gameplay, muchas gracias por jugar! Me alegro que hayas apreciado las mecánicas de sanación mediante baños jajaja
i uh made fanart of this game's protagonist.
No way! I'd love to see it!
it's lewd tho

I see hahahaha
It's awesome though! Really nice art style! I specially like the first one
thanks
EVERY. ONE. HAS. CAKE.
I feel like there needs to be a ending involving a blue fairy, another world, and a portrait of A girl that looks so much like you
Ending 7: "And Flow"
Very sus pinocchio
bba
Noooooooooooooooooo ㅠㅠㅠㅠ
Well I can't finish this game, I literally can't figure out what I have to do at cave or temple or whatever it is. In wich order do I put colors in I have no idea, if anyone has answer please tel me.
Yellow, red, blue (from bottom to top)
Thank you, but how did you figure that out? I've lookd everywhere and not a single hint helped me about it. Thank you again for answer, that puzzle is realy hard.
Giant in the skies: sun (yellow)
War and slaughter: blood (red)
Sad death: sadness, tears, melancholy (blue)
Welp, I didn't think about it that way, thanks for replying. You're pretty good witz puzzles!
Can you bring an apk version for Android please?
I'll see what I can do. At the moment, it can be played through the page
Clock Tower, Ao Oni and Mad Father meet each other.

absolutely worth it

got to the painting puzzle and omg its impossible, why does it have so many options and so smalllll, still a pretty good game, next time i'll take the skip lol
Agreed, that puzzle is awful hahahaha
