why is the second horror so hard? Whenever I move to get the gem, spikes appear right under me. It's really frustrating..if anybody beat it, how did you because it's really hard for me.
This was one of my first games, so I still had a lot to learn (specially in terms of implementing boss battles). I think this was my first game with Rpg Maker MZ, I'm not sure

I can't figure out how to beat Evan. Im sure it's probably a skill issue but I just can't figure out what I'm supposed to do. Love the game so far though
I'm glad you're liking the game so far! To defeat Evan, just get close to him and press "Z" or "left click". You can corner him and he won't be able to harm you. It's a pretty badly designed battle
I honestly didn't like the characters. Hardly anyone's likable, especially when all of their confessions come out of left field and Alex somehow completely forgets about it after a scene or two. Marjorie can barely go two sentences without mentioning cookies and it gets really annoying. Evan spends his whole screentime basically screaming with his appearance and personality that he's a bad guy, and yet the game expects you to be surprised when he turns out to be a bad guy.
Loved this game! The character's stories and connections are interesting and I did not expect that Ceci would be the final horror at the end! Also I spent like 10 minutes trying to figure out the Evan boss battle but even though I suck at boss battles this was so fun lol.
I love the creator and l love alot of their games but this one was not very good (in my opinion) It was super hard and I mean I may just be trash but it took me 40 minutes alone to do the end maze part near the end of the game around 84% done. Also, it was glitchy I would move somewhere and it wouldn't stop or it would go a whole different way, It wouldn't let me click stuff either so combined with the glitchy moving it was impossible to play it took me from 3 pm to 8 pm to finish and that is 5 hours. Its crazy and the saving I'm forever grateful for. Still, I hate how it doesn't give you the option to have AFTER diolage so it would end up taking even longer because I need to *cough cough Evans* life story only to die from him less than a minute into fighting him because I can barley and the clicking is shit. And again I'm not trying to hate it's just really annoying to the point where I didn't even want to finish playing it. (I kept playing it because I told my cousins I would and also because I really like the creator's work.)

***SPOILERS!!!!*** I don't want to be too hard on this game since it obviously needed to be finished in time for the jam, and if I come across as such I apologize, but the story is just not good.
Most of the plot progression up until the end is just the characters moving to a new location, a lot of the characters you hardly learn anything about which makes it hard to feel anything when they kick the bucket, I feel like it would've been better if gradually more information about the game and characters was revealed throughout the game. Also Ceci being the final horror feels like it comes out of nowhere, especially in the "stay route" as I like to call it.
The only choice that gives "different events and dialogs" is the choice of whether you go or stay at the start of the game, and the only thing that really changes is some of the text, what characters are with you, who dies off screen (with no mention), and the number of bosses you fight. Also the "six endings" is literally either nothing if you choose to leave or a scene with a character that reveals no new info about them. I did like the puzzles and art though.
All in all, this game definitely had potential but its ideas just weren't executed well, but I definitely feel that if it just had more time it could've been great. If the dev is reading this I that I do not discourage you from making games

I don't like cheese, I love it. It is truly the most scrumptious of all culinary whatevers food. You get the point, cheese is a delectable, luscious, succulent product of the dairy nature.
Not sure if this is a glitch, but if you don't move, most of the monsters cannot hurt you (mostly just the moving shadow creature and blood creature in the maze).

I guess they eventually decided to escape but they died just like Harold. If you decide to stay, you eventually team up with Marjorie, Cool and Harold (Harold doesn't die if you don't go with Ceci, Bella and Evan) and you can learn more about them (and witness their fates)
Hello! Do you mean the characters' names? No eastereggs at all. I simply came up with their names at random while I was drawing their sprites. Although Ceci was originally named Mary and Alex was originally named Oliver.
Thank you! I uploaded an updated version and this has been fixed. It had to do with the quick transport events you can make in the editor. They always use one of the rtp sounds, so I had to replace them with the walk sound I created. However, I overlookd this one and I deleted all the rtp sounds so the error was because the game couldn't find that rtp sound (Move1.ogg). I simply edited the event so it now uses the sound I created and not the rtp one (I avoided using any rtp sounds at all).
Oh, I get it - it's a nasty little bug, hard to catch :)
Also it's a good game - the beginning was intriguing and the ending is quite unexpected. But it'd be better if a player could save their progress right before the fights with the bosses. (without repeating the dialogues over and over)
This was lovely, it was pretty enjoyable. I got the first ending which was death but I'll probably Play for the other endings. I would rate this game a
Very solid RPG horror adventure, the plot is very interesting and well put together, the gameplay is very entertaining, the puzzles as well as the encounters, hell even the long mazes are intriguing.
Is definitely worth replaying a few times to understand things better.

I actually wanted to make more boss battles, more areas and different death animations, but unfortunately I wasn't able to implement any of those because of time constraints. But I will definitely try to implement at least unique death animations in my next project! By the way, the Sakabashira game doesn't exist, I made it up haha. I thought the concept of the sakabashira (the Japanese folklore about the cursed inverted pillar) was really interesting and the theme of the jam was "game of life and death", so that's how the concept came into fruition.

idk man, when he was looking back at the girl, i just went up to him and kept clicking Z. pretty easy for me

First, the flame will complete a rectangle. Then, it will kind of move in zig zag

You can trap and corner him against the edges of the platform and then spam the attack button to quickly kill him
